The Shibuya Sky, a new landmark in Shibuya that opened in November 2019, has become a popular tourist attraction in Tokyo, Japan. It has already become a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists, and has even been featured in the Japanese drama “The End of the World”. With its 360-degree outdoor observation deck, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Tokyo Tower, Skytree, Shinjuku, Tokyo Bay, and even Mount Fuji, Japan’s iconic symbol. The most popular spot for Instagram-worthy photos is the glass corner. In this article, we will introduce the transportation, discounted tickets, shooting angles, and must-see facilities of the Shibuya Sky observation deck.

Where to buy discounted tickets for SHIBUYA SKY?
The admission fee for SHIBUYA SKY observation deck has increased on April 28, 2023. The online price has risen from 1,800 yen to 2,200 yen, while the on-site ticket price has increased from 2,000 yen to 2,500 yen.
As online ticket purchasing is cheaper than buying on-site, it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance on the official website. If you have Klook points, it is suggested to directly purchase on Klook for a chance to get an even better deal.
The earliest time to reserve online tickets is 4 weeks before the entry date. However, it is important to decide on the entry time in advance. The evening time slot is the busiest, so if your schedule is confirmed, just go ahead and buy the tickets online!

SHIBUYA SKY Observation Deck Visiting Regulations
SHIBUYA SKY has restricted entry times, and you must enter during the time slot indicated on your ticket. Even if you purchase tickets on-site, you may not be able to enter immediately, especially during the evening hours. It is recommended to purchase tickets earlier in the day to avoid wasting time waiting in line.
When it’s time to enter, you must line up on the 14th floor for clearance. At this time, the queue is surrounded by glass windows where you can enjoy the view of Shibuya, but the view is not as good as the observation deck as it only shows the nearby commercial area.
However, the advantage of the 14th floor is that you can enjoy a close-up view of the world’s busiest intersection.
Next, take the “SKY GATE” elevator to the 45th floor. The elevator will play some sci-fi galaxy effects. After arriving at the 45th floor, you must take the escalator to the 46th floor. There will be security guards directing everyone to the storage room to store all items, including personal luggage, bags, tripods, selfie sticks, scarves, hats, umbrellas, and strollers. The storage box costs 100 yen per use, and the money will be refunded when you retrieve your items.
Highlights of the SHIBUYA SKY 46th Floor Outdoor Observation Deck Tour
Next, you can head to the outdoor rooftop on the 46th floor to enjoy the panoramic view! As soon as you step out, you’ll see many people queuing up to take photos and check in at the 360-degree transparent glass attraction.
The Glass Corner is currently the hottest spot for IG portrait photography in Tokyo. The 46th floor is the most popular spot to queue up before sunset, while during sunset, the corner on the 47th floor is packed with people due to lighting issues.
47th Floor “SKY GATE” Outdoor Observation Deck
Ride the escalator to the highest floor, the “SKY STAGE” on the 47th floor, where the entire space is made of 360-degree transparent glass. The wide view of Tokyo’s skyline is right in front of you, and during cherry blossom season, the greenery of Shinjuku Gyoen is filled with pink, making it incredibly romantic.
There is nobody in the corner of the 47th floor before the sun sets, but when the sun sets, the colors are beautiful and there will be long lines. You can also take a picture of the Tokyo Skytree here.
More Tokyo Observation Decks: Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, Tokyo Skytree Tembo Deck
Look down at the Shibuya intersection, 109 is right below!
You can see two major landmarks in Tokyo on this side: the Tokyo Skytree and the Tokyo Tower. Can you spot them?
The best thing about this side is the sofa seat, which is super comfortable. However, in winter, the wind is so strong on it that it’s freezing cold and you don’t feel like sitting on it at all.
47th Floor “CLOUD HAMMOCK” Open-air Observatory
The space in the center of the 47th floor is the “CLOUD HAMMOCK”, which is similar to the rooftop observation deck of the Roppongi Hills Mori Art Museum, but the difference is that there is no extra charge, and the surrounding lying bed area is simply a paradise for couples to show affection.
The central “H” character is also a popular spot for internet celebrities to take photos and check in.
46th Floor “Indoor Observation Corridor”
Due to the extremely cold weather, Piaor had to retreat to the 46th floor with heating while waiting for the night view. Here, there are “Paradise Lounge”, the observation corridor “SKY GALLERY”, and the “Limited Peripheral Product Store”. You can buy hot and cold drinks here and enjoy a comfortable viewing space without wind or sun at the window seats.
Although you can hide on the 46th floor on rainy and cold days, there is still glass that reflects light, making it not so easy to take photos.
Purchase souvenir area.
SHIBUYA SKY Million Night View
After nightfall, Piaor once again went up to the 47th floor, where we can enjoy the Tokyo night view with the scenery captured from the 46th and 47th floors.
The most exciting thing is definitely the Tokyo Tower lit up at night, because the Skytree doesn’t light up and you can’t see it… and actually, SHIBUYA SKY is a distance away from the Tokyo Tower in the Minato district, so it doesn’t look as beautiful as the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower Observatory viewing platform.
Here is a brief introduction to the SHIBUYA SKY observation deck. However, compared to the observation deck, I prefer the complex shopping mall downstairs, “Shibuya Scramble Square” (link). I love the design that combines modern Japanese art with traditional Japanese elements, and Shibuya Scramble Square sells many of these Japanese-style trendy lifestyle products. I bought a lot of things here.
