When looking for affordable, clean, comfortable, and conveniently located accommodations in Tokyo, most people would search for Ueno accommodations. However, after staying in many Ueno hotels, I found that for the same price, or even lower, I actually prefer the environment near Asakusa, which is also easily accessible by train. This “APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae” is one of the Tokyo hotels I have stayed in, and it offers good quality for around 3,000 TWD per night. I highly recommend it to everyone.

【APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae】Public Spaces
The APA hotel is a Japanese budget chain business hotel. Although the front desk service is not as friendly and professional as high-end hotels, they can speak simple English. In the post-epidemic era, Japanese hotels have switched to computer systems for check-in, and guests can select their preferred language (English and Chinese are available) and check-in directly with the guidance of hotel staff. There are basically no problems.
【APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae】Double Room – Non-Smoking
This time, Piaor chose a double room – non-smoking type at APA Hotel – Asakusa Taharamachi Ekimae. In fact, there are different room types available, such as single rooms, twin rooms, and day-use rooms. All rooms have a space of “11 square meters”. You can check the photos of the room type you want on booking website.

During this post-pandemic era, I came to Tokyo. Even though I had already spent three months in Europe and had been trained by staying in super small hotels in big cities, I still couldn’t get used to the 11 square meters in Tokyo. We only brought one suitcase, but after opening it, the hallway was completely blocked. I had only been here for less than an hour and already bumped into a suitcase, leaving a bruise!
I used to complain about the space at APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae, until I moved to the expensive Ginza and stayed at a more expensive hotel with unsatisfactory quality (noise, bed, temperature, ventilation). Then I realized that the shortcomings of APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae are only minor. Their beds are really comfortable and among the Tokyo hotels that cost 3,000 TWD per night, it’s still the chain hotels that have quality assurance!
APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae belongs to the category of business hotels, and of course, the bedsides are equipped with modern technological facilities such as charging ports, lighting, and air conditioning control.
The TV feels much bigger than before the epidemic, and even the TV in the Japanese chain hotel seems to be bigger. To be honest, bigger is better!
I think the table space is quite spacious, and there is a kettle, free mineral water, and tea bags.
The drawer of the table opens to reveal comfortable pajamas and a hair dryer that won’t make your hair frizzy after blow-drying.
A simple refrigerator under the table.
Indoor slippers, bath slippers, air purifiers & humidifiers, and disinfectant sprays are all located next to the full-length mirror at the entrance.
One of the drawbacks of Japanese hotels with small spaces is that they usually don’t have closets and instead have open clothes racks, which is common in hotels below three stars.

【APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae】Bathroom
The bathroom of APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae is also small to the extreme. The bathrooms of Japanese budget business hotels have a common flaw, which is that they are all installed as a whole in this space, and the surrounding walls are all hollow. If you bump into them, there will be a big echo. Therefore, as long as the neighbor is taking a shower, you will definitely be resonated by the noise. However, because Japanese people are really quiet, unless they encounter naughty children, they will be super quiet after taking a shower before 22:00.
The faucet at APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Station is shared between the sink, bathtub, and showerhead, and is a standard feature in Japan. You can first control the desired temperature and then adjust the switch to the desired level. When turning on the hot water, you can choose the desired amount of water, so there will be no sudden changes in temperature during your shower. It is definitely a constant temperature, and you can even drink the tap water!
The spare items are all placed on the rear shelf, including razors, shower caps, toothbrushes, and hair ties.
【Conclusion】Is APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae worth it?
APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae is a great value for its price of 3,000 TWD in Tokyo. While there are many great locations to stay in Tokyo, many hotels have factors that can disrupt your sleep. If you’re looking for an affordable option that offers a good night’s sleep, convenience to nearby attractions, and easy access to shopping and dining, I highly recommend APA Hotel – Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae, located not far from Senso-ji Temple. Otherwise, you may end up spending more by staying at the Asakusa Dormy Inn Express hot spring hotel, which I also highly recommend.
