Introduction to Floors at Shibuya Fukuras
Shibuya is the headquarters of the Tokyu Group. The predecessor of “Shibuya Fukuras” was “Tokyu Plaza Shibuya”, which opened in 1965. In order to comply with the Shibuya redevelopment plan, it was closed for renovation in 2015 and was redesigned by the famous Japanese interior designer, Kyonori Morita. After four years of renovation and reconstruction, it re-opened on December 5, 2019 with a brand new look, becoming a shopping mall with the concept of “Shibuya for mature adults to enjoy”.
The “Shibuya FUKURAS” has a total of 18 floors, with floors 9-16 being offices and the other floors open to consumers as “Tokyu PLAZA Shibuya”. There are nearly 70 stores, including Japanese lifestyle goods, Michelin-starred restaurants, and rooftop bars. The main focus is on Japanese goods, and the must-visit stores include the Japanese selection shop “BEAMS JAPAN” and the lifestyle home goods store “Madu~on the table~”.
The following floors are must-visit levels of “Tokyu Plaza Shibuya”:
- [17th and 18th floors] SHIBU NIWA Sky Garden: CÉ LA VI CLUB LOUNGE, CÉ LA VI RESTAURANT & SKY BAR
- [7th floor] THE ALLEY, Kyoto Hyoutou, Arakiyama
- [6th floor] Tsukiji Tama Sushi, Kyoto Uji Fujii Myouen, Kuroge Wagyu BAR Koshizuka
- [5th floor] Pepper PARLOR Robot Restaurant
- [3rd floor] Kaneko Glasses Shop
- [2nd floor] Shibuya Station Connection, BEAMS JAPAN
【Shibuya Fukuras 1F】Tourist Information Center, Bus Station
This time we started our stroll from the 1st floor of “Shibuya Fukurasu”. The 1st floor is the newly introduced bus transfer station, where not only regular buses and buses stop, but also the boarding point for shuttle buses to and from Narita Airport and the Limousine Bus.
Behind the bus station is the multi-functional passenger service center “Shibuya-san”, which sells bus tickets to Haneda and Narita airports directly from Shibuya.
【Shibuya Fukuras 5F】Pepper PARLOR
The highlight of Piao Er’s visit to “Shibuya Fukuras” this time is the “Pepper PARLOR” on the 5th floor. It is a unique restaurant in Japan where the robot “Pepper” is the main character and serves and chats with customers.
As you walk up to the fifth floor, you’ll know you’ve arrived when you see these Pepper robots welcoming you at the entrance.
At “Pepper PARLOR”, you can order directly through robots. Pepper will recommend dishes based on your age and physical condition. Don’t worry if you don’t speak Japanese, because Pepper can speak Japanese, English, and Chinese. If you still don’t know what to eat, the most recommended dish is the “French Foie Gras Mousse Granola Pancake”.
After ordering, the food is also delivered by robots!
“Pepper PARLOR” has a Pepper robot at every table. Pepper can chat with you – just talk to him and he’ll respond on the screen. You can even play games with Pepper!
The most attractive thing in “Pepper PARLOR” is the dancing robot “NAO” in the center of the store, but NAO only dances once an hour, so I missed that moment.
【Shibuya Fukuras 6th and 7th Floor】Gourmet Restaurants
The 6th and 7th floors of “Shibuya Fukuras” are the food floors of “Shibuya Grand Shokudo”. Must-try dishes here include the teppanyaki restaurant “OSAKA kitchen”, which is not listed in the Michelin Guide, the innovative ramen restaurant “Due Italian”, which has won Michelin stars for three consecutive years, and the traditional Kyoto hot pot restaurant “Kyoto Hyoutou”.
▼【6F】Kyoto Uji Fujii Myoen, a Japanese-style restaurant with a history of more than 480 years, where you can enjoy tea-infused kaiseki meals and desserts.
▼【6F】Sasashigure Tsukiji Tamazushi, a well-established sushi chain store founded in 1924, has opened a new concept store based on the concept of “organic x sushi”.
▼【6F】Black Wagyu BAR Koshizuka
【Shibuya Fukuras 17th and 18th Floors】SHIBU NIWA
“Shibuya Fukuras” on the 17th and 18th floors is an aerial garden and restaurant called “SHIBU NIWA”, where you can overlook the Shibuya Station intersection and Yoyogi Park.
The most special thing is that you can see Miyashita Park from different angles. https://www.bring-you.info/en/miyashita-park
One of the most eye-catching features of “SHIBU NIWA” is the popular restaurant “CÉ LA VI” at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore, which is a top bar and restaurant under the luxury boutique group “LVMH”. The 17th floor has “BAO by CÉ LA VI” and the nightclub “CÉ LA VI CLUB LOUNGE”, while the 18th floor has the Fine Dining “CÉ LA VI RESTAURANT & SKY BAR”.
【Summary】Is Shibuya Fukuras a good place to shop?
This article introduces “Shibuya Fukuras” to everyone. Walking around Shibuya Fukuras, you can really feel the big difference between here and “Shibuya Scramble Square”, which sells a large number of souvenirs, and “Shibuya Hikarie”, which focuses on young women. It has more of an adult style similar to Roppongi. With the development plan of “future city” in Shibuya, led by Tokyo Express Railway Co., Ltd., and jointly developed with East Japan Railway Co., Ltd., Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd., etc., there will be 9 development projects including “Shibuya SCRAMBLE SQUARE”, “Shibuya CAST”, “Shibuya STREAM”, “Shibuya BRIDGE”, “Shibuya FUKURAS”, and “Shibuya SOLASTA” around Shibuya in the future. We look forward to the new Shibuya in 2027 when the projects are completed, which will definitely be more fun.
