The One Ratchada: Bangkok’s Newest Night Market With A Coastal Feel

The One Ratchada Bangkok is announced as the rebirth of the original Talad Rot Fai Ratchada with a modern touch. Check out this travel guide for a heads-up.

Steeped in a modern vibe with a coastal feel of a Mediterranean beach city, The One Ratchada came back to life shortly after the closure of the Train Night Market Ratchada when Covid-19 swept through Bangkok.

In mid-2022, The One Ratchada was acquired by new management, breathing a new life into the once-threatened night market. For that reason, the architecture and layout of the new Ratchada are a tad different from the original one.

Most of the food vendors here focus on outdoor seating. Palm trees flank the pathways that swathe around the central seating area in the core of the market.

In this article, I’ll be unveiling what it’s like to visit The One Ratchada and how to get there.

How to get to The One Ratchada?

Esplanade Shopping Mall

The night market is nestled behind the Esplanade Mall. You can get there by MRT and get off at the MRT Thailand Cultural Centre station. Head out of Exit 3 or 4 and the night market is a short walk away.

You can either take the sidewalk outside the Esplanade Mall or right into the entrance and take a left turn.

For those who are new to the scene, Jodd Fairs is sort of like a ‘sibling’ to The One Ratchada. They were split from the original Train Night Market Ratchada after Covid-19 and have been operated by two different management groups ever since.

What Is There To Do At The One Rachada?

The One Ratchada has about 100 vendors, offering everything from street food and snacks to thirst-quenching beverages, fashion, and nail salons.

Thanks to its welcoming ambiance, The One Ratchada is a household name for families and couples, as well as locals and visitors alike.

Most of the food stalls here do not offer an on-site seating area except for the big ones. However, you won’t be having a hard time looking for seats as there is ample seating in the middle of the market. As soon as you’ve completed the orders, wait for the pick-up and walk back to the mutual seating area to enjoy your delightful meal.

A heads-up for you is that most of the snacks and street food here are pretty similar to other night markets in Bangkok that you may have visited.

On the flip side, the food quality is yummy as usual, adding on top of the affordable cost. It appeared to me that grilled skewers, curry noodles, and grilled fish are the most common finds here, except for that one time I saw a vendor selling crocodile meat.

If you’re looking for something less heavy and more decadent, don’t forget the cheesy corn topped with black sesame seeds.

Last but not least, the famous volcanic ribs are another big catch here at The One Ratchada. They also have it at Bangkok Jodd Fairs but if you haven’t tried it at the other place yet, don’t miss out on this fulfilling, steamy hot treat to wrap up the night.

The One Ratchada Market is open every day from 4 pm to midnight. There’s a separate section at the side of the market filled up with nightclubs and bars set up inside container houses.
