How is it like dining at one of the most talked-about noodle stores in Bangkok, a place that marked itself on the map of Michelin-recommended spots with a Bib Gourmand for several years?
Today, I’m excited to share my dining experience at Rung Rueang Pork Noodles, a bustling Thai eatery that’s been serving up mouth-watering bowls of Thai-style pork noodles for years. Despite its humble beginnings, this place knows how to run a tight ship and keep its customers happy. So, join me as I take you through my dining experience and give you the lowdown on what to expect.

Where is Rung Rueang Pork Noodles
Rung Rueang Pork Noodles is only a 3-minute walk away from the BTS Phrom Phong Station. Once you get there, make sure to head into the right store as there would be two identical spots standing right next to one another which are run by the siblings of the same family. The prices at the two places are not very different yet you should expect a slight variation in flavors.
The Dining Space
The dining space of Rung Rueang Pork Noodles is opened out to the streets, breezy and bustling day and night. Aunties grapple with a steaming pot of fish balls and rows after rows of rice noodles, quickly sliding them into the bowl.
How to Order?
Standing nearby, a friendly lady quickly notes down orders on the book. You tell her what you want on the flavors, toppings, noodles, and sizes.
On the whole, you can choose from Tom Yum Soup, Tom Yum – No Soup, Clear Soup, and Dry Noodle with No Soup at all. On the noodles, they offer egg noodles, glass noodles, thick rice noodles, as well as thick and thin vermicelli.
They place a huge yellow menu on the wall in English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean so you won’t be running into a language barrier.
The Food – Rice Noodle Soup with Pork
I went for the rice noodle soup with pork this time. If you are not specific about your order, they will give you mixed toppings including minced pork, pork slices, intestines, bean sprouts, and green onion, .
My choice of soup is pork soup, this type of soup will give you a slightly sweet flavor in the broth instead of the spicy kick of the traditional Tom Yum noodles.
The Food – Medium Rice Noodle TOM TUM Soup with Pork
Visiting Thailand means you can’t overlook a serving of Thai Tom Yum noodle soup. Call it a tasty-meets-spicy dish as the bouncy noodles go perfectly with the hot spicy soup. I like that it’s not greasy. Plus, the fish balls are firm and bouncy on the tongue while the pork spices are tender, which all leads to a satisfying result when it washes down your throat.
Longan Juice and Black Tea
While it’s always a good idea to order a refreshing drink to go with your meal, I personally wouldn’t recommend the beverages at this restaurant, the black tea I ordered tastes bitter with a weird sweetness to it, while the longan tea feels like it’s just watered down.
A Heads-up
Rung Rueang Pork Noodles is a Michelin-recommended spot that won’t break the bank, even though it’s just like a typical neighborhood Thai food stall.
The only thing is that the staff do not speak English at all, at least not to a fluent level but you would find no hassle in communicating. If things get complicated, try your finger-pointing technique at the menu and you’re good to go. The portion is not too big and filling so if you’re a big eater, I recommend you order more than one portion.
So why not stop by and check it out next time you’re in the area?
