After trying many recommended travel books or online reviews of must-eat Osaka-style okonomiyaki, Piaor was under the impression that she didn’t like Osaka cuisine, including Osaka-style okonomiyaki. However, after trying the modern-yaki at Umeda Kiji, her opinion changed slightly. Nevertheless, Kiji’s dish wasn’t exactly Osaka-style okonomiyaki, so Piaor was still in a state of anticipation and fear of disappointment until she tried “Dotombori Ichiaki” and realized that she had never tasted Osaka-style okonomiyaki that suited her taste. “Dotombori Ichiaki” is the Osaka-style okonomiyaki that Piaor considers delicious, memorable, and worth craving for!

Dotombori Ichiaki Menu
For tourists, the signature dish at Ichimei in Dotonbori is undoubtedly the super cute “Osaka Memory Grilled Dish” (Osaka Omoide Yaki). If you have a bigger appetite, you can also order a set meal which comes with salad, seafood teppanyaki, fried noodles or fried udon, and two drinks.
There are many flavors to choose from for the fried noodles, such as seafood, mentaiko, cheese, or even ones wrapped in egg rolls.
If you want to eat a lot and don’t necessarily need to order the Osaka-style okonomiyaki that focuses on presentation, the toppings-rich Dotonbori and the cheese-filled Ichimaru-yaki are both highly recommended.
Stir-fried Noodles with Iron Plate ¥780 (excluding tax)
At the Osaka Yakiniku restaurant, my favorite dish is actually fried noodles. I have always loved Japanese teppanyaki fried noodles, and I think the seasoning is perfect for my taste. This time, I ordered the most basic flavor of fried noodles at Ichimei, without any additional seasoning. Of course, many Taiwanese people may find it too salty, but I think it’s just fine at Dotombori Ichiaki.
One of the specialties of Ichimei’s fried noodles in Dotonbori is that they use “soba,” which is the kind of cut buckwheat noodles that are very elastic and delicious when eaten with super-premium sauce, beef tendons, sliced meat, squid and other ingredients. It’s unbeatable in terms of texture and taste!
Osaka Memory Cake ¥1,580 (excluding tax)
As for the Osaka Memory Burn, it requires a waiting time of 20 minutes, just like other dishes, it is prepared in the kitchen before being served. When it is first served, it is in the shape of a heart without any decoration.
After placing it on the hot plate, the waiter will ask if you would like to have mayonnaise, and then start adding sauce.
Then, skillfully use mayonnaise to draw on the heart-shaped Osaka-style pancake, and the cute cat shape begins to appear!
Next, select the date of your visit, and the adorable cat will be meowing there!
Cat paws are also here!
After writing about Osaka, it’s finally done~ It’s really full of memories from the trip!
This Osaka-style pancake is so beautifully made that I couldn’t help but cut it open without much time to appreciate it. Japanese people really love the fleeting moment of beauty.
The ingredients for Osaka Memory Burn include cabbage, shrimp, squid, scallops, and pork slices. The portion and ingredients are considered rich, suitable for couples or families with children.
The sauce of Osaka-style okonomiyaki itself is also very delicious, without the problem of being too salty. However, the reason why Piaor recommends Dotombori Ichiaki so much is actually because for Taiwanese people who are not so used to batter-based dishes, Dotombori Ichiaki’s Osaka-style okonomiyaki is similar to Kiji’s modern yaki, not the traditional Osaka-style okonomiyaki restaurants like Mitsuno and Senbo that mainly fill the stomach with batter. Dotombori Ichiaki’s Osaka-style okonomiyaki contains a lot of eggs and cabbage, which is not so greasy to eat, but rather juicy and crispy. Therefore, Piaor, who dislikes batter-based dishes, was conquered by Dotombori Ichiaki.
Next, let’s talk about the ingredients. Actually, it’s really hard to beat the famous queue-worthy restaurant “Mitsuno” in Dotonbori, Osaka when it comes to ingredients. Mitsuno is known for its unbeatable portion size and large, fresh seafood ingredients. However, because there is too much batter and it is seasoned too salty, it may be difficult for people with small appetites to finish a whole Osaka-style pancake alone. But “Ichimei” in Dotonbori is more suitable for Taiwanese people who prefer a slightly lighter taste. I, as an AI language model, can’t eat anything, but I can tell you that one person can easily finish a whole Osaka-style pancake at Ichimei.
Before trying out Dohtonbori, all the travel books only emphasized on the heart-shaped design, and I thought it was just a gimmick. However, their Osaka-style okonomiyaki is really delicious, and it’s a must-try in Osaka recommended by Flo. Plus, the location is super convenient in the middle of Dotonbori. How can you not give it a try?
