On the way to Jungfraujoch and the Alps area, Grindelwald emerges to be a pleasant stop mid-way to spend a night or two. This lovely town is the outpost of the Jungfraujoch, playing host to a plethora of ski gadget shops, souvenir stores, a supermarket, and lots of stellar restaurants peppered around a scenic landscape.
On top of that, the nightly rate at a three-star hotel in Grindelwald is considered a tad less than that in the Jungfraujoch. For that reason, Carlton – Europe Vintage Adults Hotel became a top call upon my journey there. With an excellent location just steps away from the Interlaken East Station and an affordable nightly rate, Carlton – Europe Hotel will give your vacation a lot more fun.

The Bedroom
The room I booked is a double bedroom. It is not downright the biggest unit there but it’s still a spacious accommodation in Switzerland. The decor is steeped in an old-fashion style with a bulky wooden cabinet and a cozy vibe flowing throughout.
What a surprise how they like to use a twin mattress placed on top of one big bed frame. This bedding style is pretty popular in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. The mattress is clean and comfortable to rest my back for a few days.
Upon our arrival, the housekeepers already spruced it up with some local Swiss chocolates on the bed. What a lovely touch!
Although the room is not equipped with air-con, the weather is pleasant to feel cozy and cool with the temperature hovering between 26 and 28 degrees. You can turn on the fan if needed.
The Bathroom
The bathroom is large and basic with straight-up white as the primary tone. Square tiles are used for the floor and walls with basic amenities fully stocked.
The Breakfast
A buffet continental breakfast is served daily. It’s not a five-star rated breakfast so there is nothing fancy about it. On the flip side, I love the way they keep everything simple and nutritious.
From boiled eggs to scrambled eggs, from whole milk oatmeal, from hot coffee to bread and jam, you name it. This is a typical European continental breakfast, just the way it is.
Conclusion
The nightly rate at Carlton Hotel is slightly higher than other three-star hotels in the region, mostly owing to its popularity, excellent location, and quality of facilities. The friendly staff brings welcoming hospitality to my stay, adding on top of the beautiful view from the room. If you don’t mind the squeaky sound echoing from the hall and other rooms, Carlton Hotel is a decent place to spend your nights.
