Nestled smack dab in the core of Bahnhof Avenue, one of the liveliest shopping boulevards in all of Zermatt, Hotel Butterfly inherits some of the best locations in town.
The sun-kissed 3-star deluxe hotel takes you 2 minutes only to reach the Gornergrat train station and 7 minutes to the Matterhorn Museum. Complimentary afternoon tea is served at the lobby from 16:00 to 17:30 every day which is a thoughtful touch.
On top of that, each room boasts a gorgeous mountain or city view out of the whimsical balcony where a small hanging garden brightens up the entire space.

The Bedroom
Hotel Butterfly is home to 6 different accommodation types ranging from Junior Suite with Balcony, Economy Twin Room, to Superior Queen and Extended Family Room.
Even though the balcony in each room is a little small, they set up a proper seating where you can soak up the city view at other chalets and the far-flung mountains.
I signed up for an Economy Twin Room with 2 separate single beds. The comfy room is perfectly blanketed to keep your feet warm from the winter chill with a decent space of 21 square meters.
The decor may seem standard at first but if you take a closer look, there is a strong Swiss touch to that. From the wooden furnishings and frames of the sliding closet to the royal red shade of the recliners and stripes on the pillows, the room truly translates a traditional European flare with a modern touch.
One thing I noticed about the room is a kettle to heat water. This is not something you can find at every single hotel. With proximity to the supermarket nearby, snag some instant food you want from there and cook it at your best comfort if you don’t feel like going out for food.
The Bathroom
Bring your own toothpaste and toothbrush as they are not always provided in the room. The bathroom has no bathtub in it and the vanity table is pretty small. On the flip side, the hot water pressure is up to par so I didn’t get any frostbite from the winter trip.
The Breakfast
Zermatt is a small town where most of the restaurants are not open in the morning. That’s why you’ve gotta stay at a hotel where breakfast is included in the rate. Otherwise, it would be a pain in the neck if you wake up hungry and nowhere closeby is available to stock you up in the morning.
As a standard Swiss hotel, Hotel Butterfly serves continental breakfast. European staples such as fruits, ham, cheese, yogurt, eggs, milk, cereal, bacon, coffee, and tea are the most common finds.
One of the best things about breakfast at Hotel Butterfly is that they will get a food box ready on the go if you don’t want to have breakfast at the hotel. Just make sure to alert them in advance.
Conclusion
As a deluxe hotel chain, the hospitality experience at Hotel Butterfly is top-notch. Stay at Hotel Butterfly if you wanna be close to the train station and most of the main happenings in town.
